Symptoms:
Severe Swelling and itching sensations on some or all parts of the body. Eruption of Hives or Blisters on various parts of the body.
Diagnosis:
Urticaria/Hives (Urdu: Pitti, Chappaki, etc). Allergic to 150 items.
Suggested Allopathic Treatment:
Steroids. Possible treatment abroad in Canada ($7,000 /Rs.700,000)
Background:
Local doctors were unable to help. Immunoglobulin (IgM) levels were very high and off the chart. Patient was put on steroids in the end but even that was not providing any relief. This resulted in added side effects of high sugar and high platelet count. HBA1C level shot up to 11 + (instead of staying around 6-7 for a diabetic patient). Patient’s blood platelet count also shot up to 500+ during the process. Strong anti-allergy non Unanidrug therapy for more than 36 months did not provide much relief.
Unani Treatment:
Treatment started with a focused dietary plan. This was accompanied by drug therapy involving teas, madjoons, and powders containing up to 50 different Unani herbs and other materials. Patient started to respond to the treatment immediately. Within a short period, Unani medicines not only took care of Urticaria related problems but also stabilized the sugar levels and platelet count … all for a fraction of a fraction of the costs associated with allopathic treatment … specially one that would have required treatment abroad.
